Content

This course covers the technical protocol for the ultrasound evaluation for the above and below  knee portion of the lower extremity peripheral arterial system. We will review how to image the peripheral arterial system with B-mode, color Doppler, and spectral pulsed wave Doppler and practice orienting via anatomic landmarks and image optimizing along the way.

Following that we review how to image and document the pathological findings of stenosis, occlusion, and aneurysms via B-mode, color Doppler, and spectral Doppler.

We gain deeper insights into the ultrasound evaluation of lower extremity peripheral arterial pathology, focusing on an interesting patient story.

Functional arterial testing is complementary to ultrasound imaging of the peripheral arterial system. Together, these modalities allow us to paint a complete and vivid picture of the patient's peripheral arterial pathology. Finally, we will also learn the ankle brachial index examination and the segmental examination and pulse volume recording.
